This clarinet is truly one of a kind. Handcrafted by Mr. Morrie Backun specifically for me and my music, and thanks to his generosity, it has been my faithful companion on every stage and concert. I even recorded my CD Night Kisses with this very instrument, and it has also been featured in various magazine photos including Japanese Clarinet magazine V 74 in 2021.

Playing this clarinet has transformed the way I approach music. From the deepest chalumeau to the soaring altissimo, every note resonates with richness and clarity. Its immediate response allows me to shape phrases exactly as I imagine them, giving me complete freedom of expression. What I love most is that it never limits me—it opens doors. Whether I’m playing jazz, classical, or anywhere in between, it lets me sound like myself, only better.

More than just an instrument, this clarinet is a work of art. It became the prototype for the Lumière model, which remains one of the finest professional clarinets available today.

Backun MOVA Clarinet — Reference Instrument Personally Selected and Played by Ricardo Morales

This remarkable Backun MOVA clarinet was personally played and preserved by Ricardo Morales, Principal Clarinet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and one of the most respected artists and designers in the clarinet world.

During the design and development of the Backun MOVA model, Morales tested and refined numerous prototypes to perfect tone, balance, and feel.
Among them, this clarinet emerged as the most perfectly crafted example — a model of ideal resonance, even response, and mechanical precision.

Morales used this exact clarinet in a professional recording of Franz Schubert’s “Shepherd on the Rock”, where its lyrical depth and crystal clarity can be fully appreciated.
🎧 Watch the recording here

Following the session, with complete artistic satisfaction, he decided to preserve this clarinet as the “perfect reference”— a benchmark for Backun’s future production of the MOVA line.

This particular clarinet is distinguished by custom solid silver thumb tube and register tube, specially made to enhance resonance and add sweetness to the sound.

Leblanc Concerto Clarinet — Previously Owned and Played by Eddie Daniels

This exceptional Leblanc Concerto clarinet was personally owned and played by Eddie Daniels, one of the most celebrated clarinetists of our time — a musician who has seamlessly bridged the worlds of classical mastery and jazz improvisation.

Eddie used this clarinet for the recording of his acclaimed album “Beautiful Love”, released in 1997. During that era, this clarinet was his main concert instrument, cherished for its beautiful dark tone — a sound that became integral to his artistry.
Handcrafted by Leblanc (France), the Concerto model represents one of the finest designs in the company’s history. Renowned for its precision keywork, impeccable intonation, and warm projection, this clarinet was favored by elite performers during the 1990s and remains a rare find today.

Beyond its technical excellence, this clarinet carries the soul of a master artist — an instrument that helped shape one of the most expressive clarinet voices of the modern era.
Whether as a collector’s treasure or concert companion, it stands as a unique opportunity to own a piece of clarinet history.
